7 IITs aimed to be enlisted in the list of Top 100

Ministry of Human Resource & Development (HRD) aims at enlisting the Top 7 IITs of India in the list of Top 100 Global Ranking. For this all the 7 IITs of India will be focused under foreign faculty for minimum one term. This step has been taken to improvise the Global Ranking of Indian IITs. For this, HRD has released fund of 100 Crore each to these seven IITs. Along with this, combined surveillance in Ph.D. would be performed by foreign Institutes and Universities. These 7 IITs are currently among the list of Top 500 IITs but HRD aims at enlisting these IITs in Top 100s. 
According to one of the official of HRD, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee has been selected and has been provided fund. They have been provided the fund on the basis of ‘Initiative for Improving the Global Ranking and Quality’. The fund will support them to keep the foreign faculty for a longer period. They will be paid as per the market rate. HRD aims to keep these foreign faculty for minimum one term for improvement in IITs. Presently, foreign faculty visits the IITs as visiting faculty whereas some of the IITs have kept foreign faculty as permanent faculty.
