Journalism Faculty to be up skilled through Industry Attachment: Vice Chancellor

The concluding ceremony of Five-day long Faculty Development Programme (FDP) at department of Mass Communication, Sharda University was graced by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. G.R.C Reddy. The FDP theme was “Media Academics and Industry Interface” where top notch resource persons from Media fraternity shared their valuable inputs with the faculty members. The discussions mainly revolved around the idea of implementing teaching methodologies to make the students industry ready.  All the faculty members also put forward their thoughtful insights.
  Each session of the five days Faculty Development Programme was staged with thoughtful discussions about mobile journalism (MoJo), data journalism, importance of regional languages, technical skill development and overall personality development of students.
  Amidst the discussions of how technology has become the essential element of modern media
  Industry, the teachers should focus on inculcating critical thinking and problem solving attitude in the students.
  The eminent speakers of the FDP were Kishalay Bhattacharjee, Associate Dean of Jindal University and Former Special Correspondent, Bureau Chief and resident Editor of NDTV and Ajit Anjum, Former Managing Editor of News 24 and India TV, Prof. Ujjwal Chowdhry, Head, School of Media at Pearl Academy and Prabhat Dabral, Sahara Head and Information Commissioner, Uttarakhand, Akhilesh Sharma, Political Editor, NDTV, Sanjay Pugalia, Head, Quint and Dr. Anand Pradhan, Associate Professor, IIMC,  Shweta Kothari, Prime time Anchor, News X and Sandeep Bhushan, Senior Journalist, Rahul Dev, Former Editor-in-Chief & CEO, CNEB News Channel and  Anand Banerjee, Environmental Journalist.
. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor distributed the certificates and congratulated the Dean, Head of the Department, and all the faculty members saying that the FDP will surely create new bridges between academics and industry.
  In the concluding remarks Prof. Subhash Dhuliya, Dean, School of Creative Art, Design and Media Studies announced that basis of the input of industry experts, the school shall launch two new and exclusive PG Programmes in ‘Digital Marketing & Multimedia Communications’ and  ‘MA in Advertising, PR and Corporate Communication’. Dr. Amit Chawla, HOD, Mass Communication added that the syllabi of existing UG and PG programmes shall be upgraded to match industry requirements.
