Govt. assents 82 Crores for the first Hydro Engineering College of India

The establishment of the first Hydro Engineering College in Bandla of Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. Union Health Minister J.P Nadda said that this will boost regional development and provide more job opportunities. To promote technical education, government has accepted to give 82 Crore for Hydro-Engineering College. Apart from it, 62 Bigha land has been transferred to the technical education department for setting up college. With the help of Hydro Engineering Institution, technical human resource will get support for specific requirement of Hydro power projects. This Hydro Engineering College will be the first and only institute in our country where Hydro- generation will be taught. It will teach mechanical, civil, electrical and computer science. 
Goyal said that the institute will provide avenues for higher and technical education and youth of the state will not have to go to faraway places for being technically trained and skilled and added that the college will develop into a Centre of Excellence.  
Regarding this effect, MOU was signed between Himachal Pradesh and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and National Hydel Power Corporation (NHPC). NTPC & NHPC will contribute 37.50 Crore Rupees each in the first tranche for setting up the Hydro Engineering College. Himachal Pradesh is a small energy surplus mountainous state. It has the potential to possess 24thousand MW hydropower. For correct utilization of the hydropower potential, more and more business and private entrepreneur are engaged in this. With the help of many projects 10, 351 MW is being exploited successfully.
