10,000 Pvt. schools closed: Now new school applications increased 4 times; Highest 4216 in UP & MP

In the country in two years, children in government schools have increased, and in private schools has decreased. Due to this effect, 10 thousand private schools were closed. Now the applications for opening new private schools have increased up to 4 times. The applications for opening new private schools have increased by 4.38 times in the last year. A total of 2,066 new applications were received in 2021. In 2022, 9,057 applications have been received.
 According to the latest report of the Union Ministry of Education, 5,406 private schools were closed due to Corona in 2021. Similarly, 5,052 private schools were closed in 2020. In these two years, the number of children studying in private schools has decreased by 30.52 lakh. At the same time, 40 lakh children have increased in government schools in 2022 compared to 2021. In 2021, 1.85 crore new admissions took place in the first class across the country.
 Of these, 1.19 crore admissions took place in the government or government-aided schools. Only 66 lakh admissions took place in private schools. There have been more admissions in government schools in 24 states and union territories. At present, 63% of children across the country are studying in government or government-aided schools. In just 7 states, more children are studying in private schools than in government schools. These states are – Punjab, Haryana, Manipur, Nagaland, Telangana, Puducherry, and Uttarakhand.
 Dropout was reduced in government schools, but highest in 5 states including MP
 The country’s dropout rate of school children has come down to 14.6% till class 9th-10th. In 2020 it was 16.1%. In states where more children are studying in private schools, the dropout rate is also higher.
