The government is all set to spread skill universities. A draft guideline with regard to skill university is under consideration. It is expected that in the next few months a detailed guideline on skill universities will be available. Soon we will witness a new era of skill universities. These universities will replace or support traditional universities.
Universities have following important goals :
A. Knowledge creation and dissemination.
B. Development of required knowledge, skills, attitudes and habits among youth.
C. Preservation and promotion of culture, values and ethos.
D. Support to the national goals through development of responsible and competent citizens.
These goals are achieved through various programs that are offered through various modes. Universities offer mostly three types of programs :
1. Purely research based programs (for example, an MSc or a Ph.D. program),
2. Technical or professional skill based program (for example an MBA or an Engineering program),
3. Programs to build broad based understanding.
